So if you don’t feel like upgrading to Rise of Iron just yet you won't be completely left out of the fun.
Taken King owners will also have access to private matches, though only for the content included in that release. It’s going to be a powerful tool that will be used by everyone from event organizers with prize pools at stake, to groups of friends looking for some competition. Private matches also open up Destiny to a new market: competitive tournaments hosted in a controlled environment (the first of which will be hosted by Major League Gaming).
Private matches are going to allow players to create their own custom matches where they can pick the map, game mode, and tweak certain modifiers like the ability to turn light level on or off. Two of the biggest improvements coming with Rise of Iron’s release are the inclusion of private matches and a new PVP mode for the Crucible called Supremacy.
